2012 in review(

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 70,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The Father of Algebra: Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī

There are about 750 verses in Quran urging Muslims to make use of reason to understand nature and thus reach their understanding of the Creator, in contrast to just 250 verses about legislation. The Holy Quran states: In the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the […]

Love is blind. What does it means? It means we love someone without any valid reasons. We fall in love with someone and we do not know the reason why we have fallen in love with him or her. Most peoples forget that the one that put the love towards him or her in our heart is none other than the Creator of men themselves, Allah. There is no one that can gives loves beside Allah. Allah is the one that has put the love towards someone into our heart and we cannot do anything about it. We can neither increase nor decrease the amount of love towards someone in our heart except with the permission of Allah. Allah put love into heart of all mothers towards their children. Allah uses love as a means to protect and to nourish the young helpless children. A mother can undergo many nights without sleep, feeding and tending to her crying children because Allah has instilled love towards that child inside her heart. No one can instil that love except Allah. When Allah put love inside our heart towards someone we will not be able to find the reasons, why we have loved that person. We neither can love nor not to love someone with our own choice. We do not have the choice either to love or not to love someone. When Allah has put the love towards someone in our heart, we have no choice but to love that person. Allah instils love into our heart towards someone in order to test us. It is the same way as Allah gives us wealth and power in order to test us. Allah is testing us in order to enable us to know our level of Iman. We will know our Iman is weak whenever we are tested by Allah, end up we transgress the orders of Allah.

Me and ISLAM as a western girl !! (my true story)

Assalamualeykum, dear brother and dear sister.
=>a simple explication of :why am i always talking about ISLAM ? How did I trust at this wonderful religion ?

Birth to Childhood

I was born on the month of january, in 1994, at villeurbanne around Lyon(FRANCE). My parents are from INDIA and they are of the Muslim faith. I mostly grew up in FRANCE, in a suburb wich is called Vaulx en Velin. In Vaulx en Velin, there are too many muslims, some small Masjid.
At one year, like every babies of my age, i just enjoy my life by playing all the day with my toys. In 1995, it was an unforgettable year, where i met for the first time my lovely grandparents. I always say lovely, wonderful, beautiful, etc. when i’m talking about them, because they are good exemples for me and for everyone, i think. They are so religious, MASHA’ALLAH.
In 1996, I went to INDIA, where i saw my family wich is very very big and filled to the brim of affection …
My wonderful grandparents were always talking about ISLAM. Because of this, i asked myself  “why should i trust on ALLAH(swt) ?” (Now i’m ashamed myself).
In September 1997, i went for the first time to the nursery school. At the registration of this school, my father enrolled me as Shameena, but at the start of school, they changed my name as Samina. When my father asked them “why did you changed the name of my daughter ?”,they just said “it’s complicate to write her name and we don’t know how to pronounce it !”…
In 2000, at the age of 6, i started to pray correctly and read the QURAN (but irregularly). I was at the elementary school at this time, and i was so sporty, fond of football. Always practise it, without break (football, gymnastics, ice hockey and taekwondo). I was like a boy … (Don’t worry it’s the past !!!)
In 2005, around the end of may, i met some knee problem during my practise. Then i went to see my doctor, who told me to stop sport. What i didn’t do it. My aunty always told me to pray regularly, but i didn’t listen her. My situation was aggravate in July 2005. I really had bad holidays.
September 2005, I came to secondary school, where i stop every activities(sports).  Continue reading “Me and ISLAM as a western girl !! (my true story)”

Islamic universities + Humanity

                                (AlAzhar University Mosque .Cairo.)

Seeking knowledge is obligatory in Islam for every Muslim, man and woman. The main sources of Islam, the Quran and the Sunnah (Prophet Muhammad’s traditions), encourage Muslims to seek knowledge and be scholars, since this is the best way for people to know Allah (God), to appreciate His wondrous creations and be thankful for them. Muslims were therefore eager to seek knowledge, both religious and secular, and within a few years of Muhammad’s mission, a great civilization sprang up and flourished. The outcome is shown in the spread of Islamic universities; Al-Zaytunah in Tunis, and Al-Azhar in Cairo go back more than 1,000 years and are the oldest existing universities in the world. Indeed, they were the models for the first European universities, such as Bologna, Heidelberg, and the Sorbonne. Even the familiar academic cap and gown originated at Al-Azhar University.

AlAzhar University, Cairo. The world’s oldest university and Sunni Islam’s foremost seat of learning.

The Musalman-Preservation of a Dream

‘முசல்மான் ‘ என்ற கையால் எழுதப்பட்ட செய்தித்தாள் 1927ஆண்டிலிருந்து சென்னையில் ..

The ‘Musalman’ is probably the last handwritten newspaper in the world. It has been published and read every day in South India’s Chennai since 1927 in almost the same form. In the shadow of the Wallajah Mosque in Chennai, a team of six die hard workers still put out this hand-penned paper. Four of them are katibs — writers dedicated to the ancient art of Urdu calligraphy. It’s tough for the die-hard artists of Urdu calligraphy. But the story we tell here is not just of their desperation and despair. The fact is, at the office of ‘The Musalman’, the oldest Urdu daily in India, no one has ever quit. They work till they pass on. This is the story we tell.
