A Brief History of Islam

SEASONSNIDUR

The Rightly guided Caliphs

Upon the death of the Prophet, Abu Bakr, the friend of the Prophet and the first adult male to embrace Islam, became caliph. Abu Bakr ruled for two years to be succeeded by ‘Umar who was caliph for a decade and during whose rule Islam spread extensively east and west conquering the Persian empire, Syria and Egypt. It was ‘Umar who marched on foot at the end of the Muslim army into Jerusalem and ordered the protection of Christian sites. ‘Umar also established the first public treasury and a sophisticated financial administration. He established many of the basic practices of Islamic government.

‘Umar was succeeded by ‘Uthman who ruled for some twelve years during which time the Islamic expansion continued. He is also known as the caliph who had the definitive text of the Noble Quran copied and sent to the four corners of the Islamic…

Three Muslim skeletons back to 7th century found in France orientated towards Makkah

mm111Nimes City, France : The religion of Islam in the Middle East started 1,400 years ago as a small religious community but within a hundred years it had spread across a vast empire, Mail Online reported.
Now the remains of three people discovered in medieval graves date back to the 8th century have provided new clues as to just how far Islam spread in its early days.
Archaeologists have used genetic testing on three skeletons found in Nimes in the south of France to reveal they belonged to Muslims from North Africa.
Each of the bodies had been buried in a way that appeared to follow Islamic rites, with their bodies and heads orientated towards Makkah.
The DNA revealed their father’s families had come from North Africa, which as the time would have been part of the huge Umayyad Islamic empire that emerged by that time. Continue reading “Three Muslim skeletons back to 7th century found in France orientated towards Makkah”

The Phenomenal Growth of Islam

SEASONSNIDUR

At the end of this chapter, it may be appropriate to point out an important indication of the truth of Islam.  It is well known that in the USA and the whole world, Islam is the fastest-growing religion.  The following are some observations on this phenomenon:

n “Islam is the fastest-growing religion in America, a guide and pillar of stability for many of our people…” (Hillary Rodham Clinton, Los Angeles Times).1

n “Moslems are the world’s fastest-growing group…” (The Population Reference Bureau, USA Today).2

n “….Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the country.” (Geraldine Baum; Newsday Religion Writer, Newsday).3

n “Islam, the fastest-growing religion in the United States…” (Ari L. Goldman, New York Times).4

This phenomenon indicates that Islam is truly a religion from God.  It is unreasonable to think that so many Americans and people from different countries have converted to…

Islamic Perspectives on Inter-Community Relations

SEASONSNIDUR

By Maulvi Yahya Nomani

(Translated from Urdu by Yoginder Sikand)

The issue of what Islam has to say about inter-community relations is one about which much misunderstanding exists. Anti-Muslim propagandists claim that Islam preaches hatred for non-Muslims, and that the Quran is a menace to world peace. They go so far as to argue that world peace is simply impossible as long as the Quran exists. In order to back their propaganda, they have deliberately twisted and misinterpreted certain verses of the Quran. Many people with little knowledge have fallen prey to this poisonous propaganda, which has been aggressively spread on an enormous scale through the media.

At the same time, we must also admit that some Muslims themselves entertain misunderstandings and extremist views about the issue of relations between Muslims and others that are based on a completely wrong interpretation of the Quran and the Sunnah, the practice of…

Who do Muslims worship?

SEASONSNIDUR

By Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything)You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything)

With regard to this important question, who do the Muslims worship?  the answer is to be found in the Holy Quraan, which is the Scripture of Islam, and in the words of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who received Revelation from his Lord.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning)

” In the name of Allaah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. All praises and thanks be to Allaah, the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists), the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful, the Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e., the Day of Resurrection). You (Alone) we worship, and You (alone) we ask for help (for each and every thing). ” [al-Faatihah 1:1-5]

What is my name?

SEASONSNIDUR

What is my name?by Miss Nishat Abdullah Hemani

Source: Islamic Poetry

I am a book in elegant prints
To know my name, here are some hints

Rich in cover and nicely bound
In hearts of Muslims I am rarely found

High on a shelf, I am kept
Forgotten there, I am left

With respect I do get lots of kiss
my main point is what they always miss

In a melodious voice they recite me
Neglecting the message inside me

At times I am used for phoney swear
My true use is very very rare

A miracle I am that can change the world
All one has to do is understand my word

I have wisdom I have treasure
so much so there is no measure

I’m your saviour, I’m your guide
But who’s there to follow the bide

Right from wrong is my fame
Holy Quran is my name
