The Qur’an exhorts the Muslims to do scientific research

” And whoso bringeth the truth and believeth therein such are

the dutiful.” Surah Al Zumar, 39:33

Every Muslim man’s and every Muslim woman’s prayer should be:

“My Lord! Enrich me with knowledge.” Surah TA HA, 20:114.

The pursuit of knowledge and the use of reason, based on sense

of observation is made obligatory on every Muslim man and woman.

The following traditions of the Prophet(SAS) supplement the

foregoing teachings of the Qur’an in the following way:

(1) Seek knowledge “even though it be in China.”

(2) “The acquisition of knowledge is compulsory for every

Muslim, whether male or female.”

(3) “The ink of the scholar is more sacred than the blood of

the martyr.”

(4) “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.”

(5) “God has revealed to me, ‘Whoever walks in the pursuit of

knowledge I facilitate for him the way to heaven.’

(6) “The best form of worship is the pursuit of knowledge.”

(7) “Scholars should endeavor to spread knowledge and provide

education to people who have been deprived of it. For,

where knowledge is hidden it disappears.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Stars or Allah

Zayd ibn Khalid reported: “The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) led the morning prayer for us at al-Hudaybiyah, following rainfall during the night. When the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) finished, he faced the people and asked: ‘Do you know what your Lord has said?’ They replied: ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He said: ‘This morning one of my servants became a believer in Me and one a disbeliever. As for him who said: ‘We have been given rain by virtue of Allah and His mercy,’ that one is a believer in Me, a disbeliever in the stars; and as for him who said: ‘We have been given rain by such-and-such a star,’ that one is a disbeliever in Me, a believer in the stars.’” [Bukhari]

The pre-Islamic Arabs believed that the movement of stars caused rain. We no longer believe that it is the movement of stars that causes rain, but that the water cycle is responsible. This hadith draws attention to the fact that whatever be the direct cause of such natural phenomena as rain, all natural laws and phenomena are under Allah’s control and that He is the Ultimate Disposer of all affairs. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) is the One who made the laws according to which ‘nature’ operates. Consequently, it is a disbeliever who will stop at the immediate natural cause of an event and deny Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) being behind the phenomena we see happening in the universe. In describing natural causes, we must acknowledge the fact that it is Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) who is in ultimate control of everything.

Interaction with others reveals
Nothing can be hidden forever
Honesty shows it visibly bright
Dishonesty could be covered
But in due course of time it explodes

Kindness is all about Character in life
Be kind to God’s Creation is Character
When the Character is clean it’s holy
Discipline enhances Human Character

Building the Character is life journey
Character actually begins at home
Walks through learning and practicing
Once Character is lost everything is lost!
