It is a day which has so many values that Allah ta’ala demonstrated in the Qur’aan shareef by naming even a sourah with it’s name and also according to a hadith of Ibne-Maajah, the holy Prophetsaid that Yawm-ul-Jumu’ah is the chief of all the days of the week.
According to hadiths of Muslim, Abu Daawoud and Tirmizi shareef, Nabi-e-kareem said that there is no other day better than Jumu’ah and that it is on Jumu’ah day that Allah ta’ala created Hazrat Aadam (a.s) the prophet Adam, and also on that day he put him in the jannat (paradise) and still on a Jumu’ah he transferred him on earth and also on Jumu’ah that Hazrat Aadam (a.s) passed away. And there is no doubt that the day of Qiyaamat (the final day/end of this world) will be a Yawm-ul-Jumu’ah, a Friday [see our article on Aashourah ].
And according to hadiths of Bukhaari and Muslim shareef, Rasoulullaah said that the day of Jumu’ ah, there is one moment that if the Muslims make du’as, it will be accepted. About this particular moment there are 2 versions: the first is the moment when the Imam sit between the two sermons (khutbah) of the namaz-e-jumu’ah, the second is some minutes before the namaz Maghrib. And according to a hadith of Mishkaat shareef, the holy Prophet said that the one who dies (intiqaal) on the day of Jumu’ah or during the night of Jumu’ah (Thursday night), Allah ta’ala will protect him from the torments of the tomb (qabar). Verily because Jumu’ah is the superior of all the days of the week that Allah ta’ala on this special day spread a “rain” (enormously) of his rahmat (graces) on earth.
According to a hadith of Nasaï shareef, Nabi-e-kareem said that the one who make the tilaawat (reading) of the sourah al-Kahaf (the cave) during the night or the day of Jumu’ah, Allah ta’ala will grant him light in his life until the following Jumu’ah.
The day of Jumu’ah, one must cut his nails, take a bath (ghusal) specially Jumu’ah, to dress oneself with clean clothes, to perfume oneself with attar, with the intention (niyyat) to go to perform the swalaat-ul-Jumu’ah. Those who practice this sunnat will be protected from the diseases and difficulties and will get the blessings of Allah ta’ala.
According to a hadith of Mishkaat shareef, the angels (farishtas/malaa-ikahs) are posted in front of the door of the masjid (mosque) and write the names of people who come to perform the namaaz-e-Jumu’ah. The first comers to the masjid will get the thawaabs (rewards) as if they made qurbaani (sacrifice) of a camel. Those who arrive after, will have thawaabs as if they made the qurbaani of an ox. Those who arrive afterwards, will have thawaabs as if they made the qurbaani of a sheep. Then according to their hour of arrival, some will get thawaabs as if they made the swadaqa (offering) of a hen and others even an egg. But, once it’s time for Imaam to sit on the Mimbarr (chair), the angels fold their parchments and go listen to the khutbah (sermon). Therefore, efforts should be made in order to arrive before the time of the khutbah. As for the latecomers, their Jumu’ah will be counted but won’t get as many thawaabs that those who arrive earlier at the mosque (masjid).
Also on the day of Jumu’ah, read as many Darood shareef as you can, because on that day, the angels present to the holy Prophet the names of the believers with the number of Darrod shareef they sent and Nabi-e-kareem likes these deeds of his ummat (people).
Hazrat Ghawth-e-paak Abdul Qaadir Jeelaanee (r.a) wrote in one of his famous books (named “Ghuniyat-ut-twaalibîn”) that Yawm-ul-Jumu’ah is a such a great day of barkats (blessings) and rahmat (grace) that many Ambiya-e-karaam a.s (prophets) achieved their nikaah (marriage) on that ver day, as inter alia, Hazrat Aadam (a.s) and Hazrat Bibi Hawwa (r.a), Hazrat Yousuf (a.s) and Hazrat Bibi Zulaÿkha (r.a), Hazrat Moosa (a.s) and Hazrat Bibi Swafoorah (r.a), Hazrat Sulaÿmaan (a.s) and Hazrat Bibi Bilqeess (r.a), Hazrat Muhammad Nabi-e-akram and Hazrat Bibi Khadeejah (r.a) and also with Bibi `Aïsha (r.a). And thus, Hazrat Ali (r.a) performed the nikaah with Hazrat Bibi Faatwimah (r.a) the sacred day of Jumu’ah.
Hazrat Ali (r.a) said that during the day of Jumu’ah, it is good to make namazs nafils such as for example, after the rising of the sun, read 4 raka’ats of namaz nafils (2 by 2 raka’ats). In the first raka’at, after sourah al-Faatihah, read sourah al-Kaafiroun, in the second raka’at, after sourah al-Faatihah, read sourah al-Ikhlaass, in the third raka’at, after sourah al-Faatihah, read sourah al-Falaq, in the fourth raka’at, after sourah al-Faatihah, read sourah an-Naass. After salaam, read 7 times Aayat-ul-kurrsi and then made your du’as. Allah ta’ala will help the one who make this `amal-e-`ibaadat (action-prayer), in an invisible way.
The holy Prophet also said that Yawm-ul-Jumu’ah is a day of Eid (satisfaction) for the believers (mu’mins).
After namaz Jumu’ah, read 50 times “Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaahil `aliyyil `azwiim“(there’s no power and no force except those of Allah the knower, the eminent). By the virtues of this tasbeeh, Allah will strengthen our faith (imaan). Also, after namaz-e-Jumu’ah, read Darood-Taaj.
