Ramadan: Muslims Urged to Watch out for New Moon
— The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has enjoined Muslim faithful to be on the look out for the new moon today, to herald the commencement of the annual Ramadan fast.
In a release signed by its Secretary-General, Dr Abdul Lateef Adegbite, the NSCIA, on Monday, said today, being the 29th day of Sha’aban 1431AH, Muslims should look for the new crescent of Ramadan month and if it was sighted, they should contact the Sultan of Sokoto, who is also the President-General of the NSCIA, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on 08036470422.

The statement said after the confirmation of the new moon, the Sultan of Sokoto would make a formal announcement of the commencement of the fast tomorrow.
However, Dr Adegbite added that in the event of the moon not being sighted today, Ramadan fast would commence on Thursday.
